Dr. Carter G. Woodson, known as the “Father of Black History,” started the first Negro History Week in 1926 to ensure students would learn Black history. It grew into Black History Month starting in 1976.

If you still have not purchased a 2024 yearbook, please look for the orange fliers around school with a QR code or tear off bitly to order.

Attention Class of 2024!!!! Please log onto the Senior Counseling Google classroom for links to submit your baby picture and a senior quote for the 2024 yearbook. Time stamps and inappropriate quotes will not be accepted. Baby pictures and senior quotes are due March 15th.

High school boy’s wrestling, Jonah Baysinger achieved his 100th win on Saturday at the North Oldham Mustang Classic.

High school girls wrestling have their first regional placers in program history. Zyler McMillian placed 1st, Sam Oliver placed 3rd, and Riley Galusha placed 5th.

English ESS for Tuesday is cancelled.

At this time, we are asking teachers to display the KHSAA survey link in their classroom. The KHSAA survey link was emailed & is also posted in our faculty footnotes. The survey should take less 3 minutes to complete. This is part of our mandated KHSAA Title IX report. ONLY current FR/SO/JR’s will take the survey

We have to have all drills by the end of Jan. Today is the lucky day. Please read your fac footnotes for all the details. If you have a sub in your area, please make sure they know what to do. We will begin about 10:10.

SCHS won the District Governor’s Cup championship last night at Great Crossing High School, beating out their opponents in a close competition to win the trophy. Congratulations to the following students for medaling in the individual competitions as well:

Auditions for the Cardinal Players performance of the spring musical The SpongeBob Musical, will be held next week, Wednesday January 17 and Thursday, January 18 after school in the auditorium. Do not forget to come by the front office today and fill out a Christmas Card for a colleague to share some holiday joy. Also fill out your snack request and turn in by 4:30 Wednesday.

Students in grades 9-12: Be sure to charge your Chromebooks each night because you must bring your Chromebook to school each day fully charged. With Friday being a testing day, please set a reminder on your phone for Thursday evening to charge your Chromebook and place it in your backpack when it is charged.

The Canned food drive is quickly coming to a close. With only one week left this week we are going to add a little more fun to the mix. On top of collecting cans during lunch this week there will be students walking around with jars for each admin that you can add money to. At the end of the week the admin with the most money will be doing an Ice Bucket challenge during the Assembly next week.

Don’t forget to bring in your cans & add some money to the jar for the admin you want to see do the ice bucket challenge next week!
