Meet Our Athletic Director: Bart Bellairs

Scott County High School is proud to welcome Bart Bellairs as our Athletic Director. A Richmond, Kentucky native with more than three decades in collegiate athletics, Bellairs brings a rare blend of coaching success, administrative leadership, and community-building to Cardinal Country.
A former two-sport letterman in basketball and baseball at Warren Wilson College, Bellairs launched a coaching career that spanned Division I and III programs before taking over at VMI in 1994, where he became the winningest head coach in school history and earned Southern Conference Coach of the Year honors along with national recognition from Sports Illustrated. His teams were known for toughness, academic focus, and connecting the campus with the community.
Beyond the sidelines, Bellairs has led athletic departments at Savannah State University and Southeastern Louisiana University, strengthening partnerships, elevating fan engagement, and expanding opportunities for student–athletes. He’s also served as a college basketball analyst for ESPN, sharing the game with a national audience.
At SCHS, Bellairs will champion our Cardinal values—excellence, integrity, and opportunity—while supporting coaches, student–athletes, and families across all sports.
“I am very excited about the future of SCHS Athletics. Our goal is to teach all our kids what it takes to be successful in and out of game competition, so they are prepared to be better athletes and citizens.”
Please join us in welcoming Coach Bellairs to Scott County!
